The problem with unions is they are also a big business. But one that the membership does not control. They spend vast amounts on political parties that keep them in business. Just look at how much of the auto companies they now own. These people have never run any business that made a profit. By saddling the auto companies with the unions as major stock holders I am betting the companies fail.

The chance Obama had to bring the US to the socialist table is slipping away. The people of Massachusetts by electing a republican turned the tables on Obama. We as a nation of free people owe them a great debt in that action! America must stop spending and start paying off our debt. That must happen now and not next year or some time in the future. It is up to us to send that message to congress and not let them off the hook.

America needs to bring back a lot of industrial jobs to this country. We cannot live on what an information economy brings to our people. It may mean slightly higher prices, but we will be far better off than the lower costs and less jobs. It is time to reinvent America and make it work for us.

Here he says Scott Brown did not win that the democrat lost it. I don’t know about you, but if she lost didn’t he win? Chris has turned every idea brought away from that race into something that did not really happen. He is a true liberal as he sees only what he wishes to.

When a citizen group votes for any candidate that is not the norm for that area it is a protest. Obama showing up changed nothing as his number are slipping due to the many bad moves he has made. He we all know now is a socialist in his beliefs. He has spent us into a very bad place for our children and their children.

This country needs both parties working together to pull us out of the mess we are now in. Blaming the banks is easy for the White House even if it is not true. The start of this was Freddy and Fannie and their losses. It has sucked the many mortgage companies after them into bad loans and debt. It was President Clinton that opened the door there.

Today we don’t need the economic war that the liberal left is trying to start. We need answers to the current problems and a solid direction with far less spending. The US expanded its debt by 45% since Obama has been in office.

Yes it is being restructured and not with in the Constitution. We are being moved to being a socialist nation by a small group of people. We are headed for a major financial meltdown and it will suck the entire country down with it. This must be stopped and fast!

Your rights are being taken by the hand fulls now days. We have a dictator and not a President today!

The entire campaign was off target from the republican message. They failed to focus on the issues that had to be solved. It allowed the liberals to direct where the discussion went and what the issues were. That was going to be the economy and everyone but them could see it coming!

We now have a socialist President and have spent our children much further into debt. But these same so called experts keep taking shots at Sarah and I am not sure why? I know why Obama is concerned about her as she would never allow him to lie like he did to the American public!

I am not so sure she will ever run for President, but she can shake things up off the sidelines!

The issue is one that is going to hurt the party in any election. It could split the party into smaller pieces very quickly. If Obama leads in delegates and does not get the nomination many blacks will not vote for Clinton. If he gets it then many Clinton and independent supporters will not vote for him. I see a large gap started here between two sides of the party. 

Geraldine Ferraro saw what being a female did for the ticket when she ran. She does know what being black will do for Obama. So where was the issue? The Obama camp wanted her out of the way and not bringing it to the public attention. They have tried to hide his middle name and so far have done a good job of it. But it would be front and center come the national election. The bottom line is both have BIG flaws and are doing their best to hide them. This happens by making issues of non-issues.

You cannot be all things to all people! You cannot regulate every action of life. But that is where our government seems headed. With the news media today reporting things, just ten years ago we would have never heard of. We seem to feel that much more is happening than actually is. The difference was in the past the whole world would not have known about much of what is called news today. This stimulus is providing the fuel to congress and the senate to act on things that they have no business being involved in.

Today we face a national debt that is staggering, a social security system set to fail and many truly big problems. But here being unpopular and taking a stand to fix these, is not a good way to be reelected. So instead we hold hearings on baseball, fight over spending more money for things few benefit from and avoid what really needs to be done. This idea of taking on no problem that will cause damage to being reelected is bunk! The democrats keep trying to divide the country over race and income levels. The republicans have changed from supporting less government to growing it bigger.

We are ready for a new party today. One aimed at solving the hard problems and finding ways to assure the country survives. Is this going to be popular? NO way, but it is badly needed. Both the democrats and republicans need to rethink their parties and stop destroying the country. We need a balanced trade, a remodel of IRS, social security fixed, a reduction of the national debt, better plans for the future energy needs and much more. But I see no way that either current party is going to step up to these issues. They would rather fight and point fingers.

This country needs to run like any good business does. That means it lives within budgets, has set goals to reach and the people can see progress happening. The rule needs to be the most good for the most people. So small minority splinter groups will not rule the government. Doing this might cause the leaders to rethink the commitments the country can make. It could require us to pull our military bases world wide to reduce costs to meet goals. Either we focus on our country or we will loose it.

How about getting to work and turning out the work the American people has intrusted to you? Lets work on the budget, trade, economic issues and congressional reform that was promised. The hearings for sound bites really don’t impress me. Not working to meet the commitments you made shows that sound bites to you are more important than delivering on promises.

Once more congress is showing that they cannot do their part to govern this country. It is time to replace those who are not keeping the commitments made during elections. It seems that every time a toilet gets plugged up we will have a hearing!

FDA cannot control the massive amounts of items imported into the USA. If they had ten times the labs and personnel they still could not check every shipment. We have standards set by FDA and it would be easy for importers to supply these for exporters to have the product certified to. Yes, this is going to cost the consumer a small increase in the cost of goods, but it stops the recall problem after the fact of disasters. Every insurance company should require these bonded certifications as part of insuring companies product liability. All of this is outside the governments control and industry needs to step up to protect their reputation and image.

This would require every exporter and importer to take responsibility for their transactions. They would have to build a relationship with a lab to handle testing. The labs would have responsibility for their results. Any rejection would hurt the company exporting and that would be shifted back to the producer. If the company of origin had to bear the costs of their bad product many small or even large companies would have reason to assure their product met the standards required. If they knew it was going to be tested by both the exporter and importer the chance of getting caught would be high. This would be a big help in keeping companies honest. 

Government is not the answer to every problem. They need to just require bonding on certified product testing. Then if a companies insurance company would not cover product liability on non-tested items the problem would start being controlled. It would not be hard to run GC/MS readings on chemical product checks and normal checks for food born pathogens. The machinery for the GC/MS is a little expensive but not out of reach. The more of these units sold the lower the cost becomes. It is time for industry to protect its customers and insurance companies to require this change. 

This headline from the Financial Times said it all. Here America has billions of bbl/cf untapped oil and gas in coastal waters or arctic areas that could be developed to carry the country until the alternate fuels are ready. But congress has failed the American people from the lowest income to the top. Because all of us will pay the higher prices. 

It is time for American development of resources for only American consumers. Both state and federal governments need to finance drilling on these lands. If we wait for big oil to do this it will not happen until the price is sky high. But if state and federal programs fund independent drilling companies to drill and build these under contract then we have some control of fuel pricing in America. The fields would supply American needs while the profits were spent to develop new fuels and pay down national debts. If the cost for this oil was at cost to produce, plus fees for state and federal revenues we level out the playing field for industry. This would lower Americas cost to produce compared to most industrialized countries.

Use open bidding to get drilling companies for development. They will not own the oil rights, but will drill and service the well heads. Taking this away from big oil will force them at least here to play fair or get no oil to refine. If they try to make their high profits on refining oil then buy the refineries and operate them as a part of the national oil program.  This area is far to important to be left in the hands of people who look to high profits to make hundreds of millions each year for their CEO’s. If government is to serve the people then they need to manage this resource. 

I had a good friend who worked drilling rigs, he drilled three wells in one area and two were capped that produced oil and one the had gas was piped into the gas system. The price for oil was not good enough for them to start pumping the oil at that time. How many of these wells exist today that have not been put online? How high does the price have to go before big oil will drill on leases they now have? With oil now a global commodity who is to say US oil will not be sold elsewhere? 

It is time for one political party to stand up and say drill on American soil and it is American oil. They need to take any lease not developed within a reasonable period of time and develop it themselves.  This development needs to benefit the states and the federal government and in the end the American consumer. This is the only way we can stop the cartels from controlling Americas destiny. If the government controls the drilling and well heads then proper safety should be built into the system. By using the navy, coast guard, NOAA and NASA to monitor and assure rig safety and proper placements we could move forward more quickly. By using small drilling companies we would stimulate the economy also. The Navy has contract shipyards that could build rigs for drilling that need work. This would keep our shipyards busy and productive. It also would provide rigs needed where not available. This could be a real win for the American people. It also could be a win for countries where we have friends, as we could drill for them as rigs became available for their use. Deep ocean drilling is not cheap nor is the technology available to all the world. We have both the engineers and companies to build these rigs. This would be better than sending dollars, as the pay off would last for years.

So to solve a problem just make a law? This seems to  be their answer of choice. What happened to the word freedom in the American life? I keep hearing we need to give up some freedom to assure the happiness of the majority? People who refuse to work should have health care, free housing, be provided food and we should treat them as equals? If your poor or what is called underprivileged you should have better services to make up for this state? What I say is if these people have the same ability to work and improve their lot in life as any other person make them. They should have to go school and get an education and lift themselves out of their condition. It is not the governments responsibility to assure the distribution of wealth.

Education is the great equalizer in America. If you don’t hit the books and get the grades to go to college then your never going to have a shot at real wealth in most cases.  Yes, a few make it without the college degree, but that is the few not the many. Life may be free, but success requires paying a price with or without an education.

The drug dealers, pimps and low life’s do not deserve our pity or to be supported with public funds. May be if we took an area of Alaska far from human settlements and made a prison there where it was work to live or die if you wish, some might find how life really works? If some were required, if able, to graduate from college to be considered for release we might make a little headway with some? We cannot legislate success for anyone let alone those who took the easy way out of schooling. But we can offer all a chance to come back and get what they missed early in life. Communities need to set up night schools using industries in their areas to train people in skills needed. Offer industry a tax credit to provide engineers, accountants, quality control engineers, computer technology personnel and the likes to train those who wish to change their lives. If young people in school want to train in these areas let them also take classes and count them toward graduation. Not every young person is college material! But those who are not need to learn how to make a good living in todays world. Technology changes fast, so schools need to constantly be updating the workforce skills. This cannot be legislated to happen, but it can be assisted by tax credits to industry and support for existing school systems to expand their role in todays life.
