America’s Military
On this Veterans Day people need to reflect on what America has accomplished in it’s many years. The military of this country has kept us well defended and free from conflicts on our soil. It has with rare exception brought democracy to the world. Yes this happen with a price. But that price has always been one the military has always been willing to pay for freedom.
Those of you who have never served will not understand this? But those of us who have served were always ready to defend freedom or bring it to others. Even when the polls were against us!
America today is a fickle country that starts a project like the Iraq war and then when there is not instant gratification turns on it’s government? We as a nation took many years to build this country from the war with England to finally getting our constitution and bill of rights. It did not happen over night and it will not happen that quickly in Iraq.
Political America is a dangerous place today. It runs on perception and not facts. Even if your facts are right the other side will try their best to color it their way. In the political area there is NO black and white, just infinite shades of gray. This opens people up to the concept facts are not important and we control what people think is true. If they perceive it is true then it becomes fact. Now the political world can shape people beliefs and no matter how unlikely the story if heard enough it becomes real.
For America’s veterans the vast majority believes in what they are doing in Iraq. The gift of a free social structure, the right to determine their future and freedom to better themselves, for millions of people is a gift worth giving. Many in America will never understand this concept? Freedom is not cheap and is paid for in blood. Every man and woman who has served in the military knows this and willingly takes the risk it could be their blood. This country was built on the backs of the military even when the people they protected did not appreciate them. It for sure was not built on the politicians who shed no blood, fail to support our troop and give aid and comfort to our enemies with their words!
